2009 Nissan GT-R

It seems that it was only like yesterday when Nissan launched a very admirable and powerful 2008 Nissan GT-R. A car that Nissan claims that the GT-R will scream to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds and go on to a top speed of at least 186 mph. Now, they have yet another car that would get us all excited with new design, power and innovation.

The VR38DETT – 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged 24-valve V6 car awaits its debut to the world carrying with it a total of 480 hp (horsepower) at 6,400 RPM (revolutions per minute). The 2009 Nissan GTR could travel up to 193 mph (miles per hour) while only emitting 50 state LEV2/ULEV.

Normal – for maximum smoothness and efficiency with gearshifts in less than 0.5 seconds

R-mode – for maximum performance with fastest shift speeds (0.2 seconds)

It has a fully automatic shifting or full sequential manual control via steering column-mounted paddle shifters with downshift rev matching. It also has a predictive pre-shift control (in R mode) which preselects the next gear change based on throttle position, vehicle speed, braking input and other information.

To ensure safety with braking, Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes – 15” front and rear are installed with front and rear two-piece floating rotors with diamond pattern and internal ventilation with super-rigid 6-piston front/4-piston rear monobloc calipers with racecar inspired 3 point radial mounting.

The front suspension has double wishbone with aluminum upper arms and a multi-link with aluminum upper links for the rear suspension. A rigid tubular front and rear suspension subframes, assembled in high-precision jigs that are similar to a race car is installed along with a Bilstein Damptronic system with three driver-selectable modes:
Normal/sport – for automatic electronic control of damping

R-mode – engages maximum damping rate for high-performance cornering

Comfort-for minimizing ride harshness on rough roads

A hollow front and rear stabilizer bars with tubular torsion-free design helps maintain maximum tire contact at all four wheels during extreme cornering. An electronically controlled rack and pinion steering with vehicle speed sensitive power assist is also installed with a 2.6 steering wheel turns lock to lock.

The body is constructed with an all new premium midship platform with hybrid construction that is assembled using high precision, ultra low tolerance jigs similar to race car constructions. An aluminum hood with trunk lid and outer door skins, a die-cast aluminum front shock towers and door structures. All outer body panels stamped using multiple-strike coining process for exceptional rigidity and precision. A carbon-composite front crossmember/radiator supprot with an advanced 6-stage paint process with full double clearcoat and chip-resistant paint in critical areas and a super silver special metallic paint, with 8 stage process, including three clearcoats and hand polishing to achieve a lustrous and liquid effect.

The car has a coefficient of drag of 0.27 for its aerodynamics. A negative lift (downforce) is generated at speed at all four wheels. The underbody covering is an impact resistant polypropylene front undercover, heat resistant sheet molded compound undercover behind front axle rigid, heat resistant carbon sheet molded compound undercover ahead of rear mounted transaxle and a honeycomb aluminum substructure with carbon composite rear diffuser. A body color rear spoiler with integrated center high-mounter stop light with front fenders designed to optimize air management around the wheels and to help keep the side window clearer at driving speed and lastly, an optimized airflow through the undercarriage and wheel arches to help cool the engine, drivetrain and brakes.

For styling and functionality, a super wide illumination headlights with high intensity discharge (HID) low beams are installed with LED taillights and brake lights. A dual heated body color power outside mirrors with power fold-in, a flush mounted aluminum door handles with four 5” exhaust outlets with polished tips and an UV reducing solar glass for the windshield and front doors.

To provide convenience the following is installed:
